(episode written by David Fury,
directed by James A Contner)
Angel
is sat alone in his office, in the dark. The
light goes on and Doyle enters the room. He tries
to persuade Angel to go out, have some fun. That
maybe the three of them could go to a club or
something. Angel tells Doyle that if he wants to
ask Cordelia out, he should just ask. Cordelia
enters the room with a box of business cards.
Neither Angel or Doyle realise that the picture
on the card is supposed to be an angel. Cordelia
lightly hits Doyle, just as he starts a vision.
He sees a nightclub, sort of eighties style, he
thinks he knows the one.
Sat
at the bar in the club is a blonde girl, Sharon.
A man goes over to her and starts a coversation.
He say's he hates places like this, she agrees.
His name is Kevin. They talk about everything
falling into place with relationships. What if
you didn't go to these places and missed the
'perfect' partner?
Angel,
Cordy and Doyle arrive and they decide to split
up and look around to see if they can find
someone in trouble. Cordelia is handing out
business cards to people, but Doyle stops her,
pointing out that they are still not licenced so
they could get into trouble.
Angel
heads over towards the bar. There is a blonde
lady sat there, her name is Kate. They have an
awkward greeting and start to talk. He asks her
if she is in trouble and needs help... as the
coversation proceeds she asks what he does for a
living, so he says he's a 'vetinarian'.
Doyle
and Cordy have gone over to another part of the
bar and Cordelia is telling Doyle everyones life
story based on her observations. Sharon and Kevin
are leaving the club. A man comes over and starts
to talk to Cordy...
Angel
and Kate are talking about making a connection,
and Kate asks if Angel wants to go somewhere a
little quieter. Angel says no..
The
man trying to 'chat up' Cordy gets a bit
aggitated by Cordy's apparent disinterest, and
Doyles intervention. He accuses Cordelia of being
a prostitute and Doyle of being her pimp. Doyle
looses his temper and hits him. His friend joins
in and they start to beat up Doyle. Angel comes
over and intervenes, ending the fight. The barman
throws out the two men, who are always causing
trouble.
When
everyone starts to carry on with what they were
doing a woman comes over to Angel and starts to
chat him up. Kate sees this and leaves.
Sharon
and Kevin are in bed. She says she should go, but
Kevin asks her not to. She should stay a little
while longer, just for a cuddle. He puts his arm
around her and cuddles close to her back...
The
nightclub is now virtually empty, and the gang
are sat at a table, discussing the lack of
anything actually happening. What were they
supposed to be doing? The barman comes over and
asks them to leave so that he can lock up.
Kevin
is lying on the bed, dead. Sharon is getting
dressed....
Cordelia
is sat at the computer in the office, trying to
get some information off the internet. Angel is
stood beside her. He tells her what to type in,
but she can't spell it. Doyle comes over and
takes over the research. They discover a number
of cases of people being 'viserated' and it
appears to be linked to the bar. Doyle and
Cordelia start to look up 'viserating' demons and
Angel heads back to the bar.
As
Angel reaches the entrance of the bar he bumps
into Kate. He apologises for going off and
leaving her the previous evening. He tries to
persuade her not to go into the bar, but she is
suspicious. She asks where he is going, and when
he answers 'into the bar' she tells him to go to
hell and goes inside. Angel replies to himself
'been there, done that' and follows her into the
bar.
Sharon
is chatting up a 'geeky' guy at the bar. He says
he was a 'spaz' and a 'geek' at high school, but
Sharon assures him that's not the case now...
they leave the bar.
A
friend of Kevin's comes over to the bar and asks
the bartender if he's seen him. He says not that
night, but that he was with Sharon the previous
night. When they look to the end of the bar where
she was sat, they are gone. Angel asks if he
knows her surname, he does. Angel goes to the
phone booth outside and looks up her address in
the phone book.
Sharon
and the 'geek' are in bed. Sharon wants a cuddle
so asks him to roll over. She cuddles close to
his back... something bursts out of her chest and
enters the 'geeks' back....
Angel
comes in and finds the body. He sees the
'viserating demon' finish entering the new host.
Angel challenges him. The demon says the the new
host is new and different, but it's not the one,
he'll have to find another soon... they start to
fight, the demon alot stronger than he looks.
Angel puts on his vampire face as the fight
continues and is thrown into the corner of the
room... the demon disappears... Kate enters the
room, with gun and badge, and sees the body.
Angel un-vamps to face her. She accuses him of
the murder. He says it's not what it looks like,
he was trying to stop another death. She asks if
he's a private investigator, and he answers 'more
or less'. She then asks to see his licence, and
he responds that's the 'less part'. Kate isn't
convinced and tries to arrest him. He fights her
off and jumps out of the window... the demon is
sat on the ledge just out of sight...
Angel
instructs Cordelia and Doyle to go over to
Cordelia's, in case the detective goes to the
offices. Her appartment is a 'tip', but Doyle
kind of likes it... Angel turns up, hurt, and
fills them in on what he knows, including Kate
being a police detective. He tells them that the
demon is some kind of burrower and to continue
with their research, he heads back to the bar.
Detective
Lockley breaks into Angel Investigations and
snoops around...
The
demon has moved on to a new host...
Angel
gets back to Cordelia's at dawn, with no luck
tracking down the demon. The research has
uncovered that the demon can be harmed by fire.
Angel decides to phone Kate and arranges to meet
her at the bar that evening. She tells the bar
tender she's a cop, and asks him to let her know
if he spots Angel. The bar tender comes back over
to her and says he's out back, and looking as if
he's going to leave. Kate goes out back, but
Angel isn't there. The bar tender attacks her,
knocking her partly unconscious, and lifts up the
back of her blouse. He moves close to her, and
his chest opens up. Before the demon can harm
Kate, Angel intervenes and attacks the demon.
They fight while a surprised and slightly dazed
Kate looks on. The demon throws them both down
into a cellar room, and goes in search of a new
host. The demon has blood on his shirt, and the
skin on his forehead is coming away. No-one wants
to connect with him...
Angel
tries to reach a high up window, using a rope and
claw he just happens to have handy, but the beam
by the window is rotten and collapses as he pulls
on the rope. Kate takes out her gun and shoots
the lock off the door. They head up into the bar
to find the bar tender. He has headed out of the
bar and grabs a young lady off the street and
drags her into an alleyway. Angel follows him and
they start to fight. Some homeless people look
on, huddled around their bin fire. Angel manages
to push the demon towards the fire and he catches
light, but Angel is injured and struggles to get
to his feet to back away as the demon staggers
towards him. A number of shots are fired from the
other end of the alleyway, and the demon falls to
the ground, just short of where Angel is lying.
Kate is stood at the end of the alley.
A
recovered Angel heads over towards Detective
Lockley, who is talking to one of her colleagues.
There are ambulances and police cars lighting up
the area. Kate is happy that the bar tender was
the killer, unaware of the demon that had
occupied him. She thanks Angel for saving her
life, and owns up to searching his apartment
earlier. A colleague calls her over, she turns to
acknowledge him, and when she turns back, Angel
has gone...
