A8 - I Will Remember You

(episode written by David Greenwalt and Jeannine Renshaw, directed by David Grossman)

Angel is in his office. He is winding up the clock on his desk. He then checks the level of the table.

Cordy is worried about Angel, because he had just got back from Sunnydale, and had seen Buffy, although she wasn't aware he was there.

Buffy arrives, and Cordy introduces Doyle, then drags him away, so that Buffy and Angel can settle this alone. Buffy is angry with Angel for coming to Sunnydale, she wants an explanation. As they are talking a demon crashes through the window of Angels office and attacks them. It runs off. They decide to follow it and head into the sewer. It's tense between them, and they have a few heart to heart discussions. They decide to split up and Buffy goes above to check some bars Angel suggests, and Angel carries on looking for the demon in the sewer. He finds the demon, or rather it finds him and they fight. Angel manages to wound it, and it's blood mixes with his from one of his wounds. He thinks the demon is dead. Something strange starts to happen, there is a flash of light and Angel falls to his knees. He has a heart beat, he's alive....

Doyle and Cordelia arrive back from their 'lunch break' and find the office trashed, looking like there has been a big fight. Cordelia fears the worst, and finds a pile of dust near the wrecked desk... then realises it is dust, normal dust, not vampire dust...

Angel enters the offices through the front door, during the day? Doyle realises that Angel is 'alive'. Then Angel realises that he's hungry. He raids the fridge. He sends Cordy to find Buffy, and they start to research about the demon that attacked them. Angel also has a reflection... Doyle mentions some people called the Oracles, messengers for the 'powers that be'. They go to the special place and Angel performs the ceremony to enter the room. When he is inside they ask for an offering, but he has none, Doyle hadn't said anything about an offering. He gives them his watch. They tell Angel that he is free, he is human, and that the powers will ask no more of him.

Angel goes to find Buffy himself. Buffy senses him approaching and turns around to see him walk from the shaded archway into the daylight. Buffy stares in disbelief, then Angel pulls her close and kisses her, in the full light of day.

Cordy and Doyle are sat on the couch in the outer office. Cordelia is sure they're just having tea and crackers dowstairs, nothing else....

.... Angel and Buffy are having tea and biscuits, and are talking. They arn't sure if they should get back together, if it would be a good idea. They get closer and start to kiss, then push everything off the kitchen table and start to kiss more passionately...

.... Buffy and Angel are in bed, he goes to the fridge and gets some food, and they start to feed each other. Angel now understands what all the fuss is, about chocolate ice cream etc, etc,. His taste buds were somewhat limited as a vampire. Some of the ice cream falls in his chest and Buffy kisses it off him...

Cordelia is getting upset. Now that Angel is human, she is sure Angel Investigations will close, and she'll be out of a job. Whilst they're discussing this, Doyle has a vision of the demon that attacked earlier, it's still alive...

Buffy and Angel are cuddling in bed. Buffy feels like a normal girl, falling asleep in the arms of her normal boyfriend. Everything is perfect.

Doyle manages to get Angel's attention without disturbing Buffy. He tells Angel that the demon is still alive, and suggests they wake Buffy to help kill it. Angel says no.

Doyle and Angel track the demon to a factory and start to search for it. They find it and start to fight. Both Angel and Doyle get hurt, and Angel runs off....

Buffy goes up to the offices to find Angel. Cordelia is marking the office equipment so that they know what belongs who. When Buffy asks where Angel is Cordy tries not to tell her, but accidently lets it slip.

.... Angel and the demon continue to fight, with Angel very much outmatched. They fall into a salt silo. Buffy 'drops' in to join the fight. From some comments made by the demon, and some of the research Angel realises that to kill the demon, you have to destroy the 'jewel' third eye in it's forehead. They manage to smash the jewel and kill the demon. Angel is hurt, Buffy hugs him as he lies on the floor.

Angel goes back to the Oracles and asks them to turn him back into a vampire. The demon was out to destroy one of warriors for the powers that be, and Angel now being human and mortal means he succeeded. The Oracles agree to turn back time 24hrs, and that only Angel will remember the events of that day.

Buffy is waiting for him back at his appartment. He tries to explain to Buffy, that it's for the best. She hugs him, in tears, not wanting him to become a vampire again, not wanting to forget the day they had together. He tells her 'How can we be together, if the cost is your life, or the lives of others'. She tells him 'I felt your heart beat'. The clock is ticking down to the point at which time will turn back. They kiss, in tears.

... Buffy has not long arrived at Angel Investigations, to 'discuss' his coming to Sunnydale. The demon crashes through the window, and with one blow to the jewel eye Angel kills it. They talk and then Buffy leaves.

Only Angel remembers their day together.
