A10 Nightmares

Buffy sees a young boy at her classroom door, but no-one else seems to see him, they just walk past as if he wasn't there. Not long after a disturbing chain of events begin....

...One of Buffy's classmates starts screaming as spiders start to appear out of nowhere, and crawl over him and his books...

...A female student sneeks into the basement for a smoke, but is disturbed by a stranger, mumbling about a lucky number, who then attacks her...

...Buffy's dad turns up early, supossedly to collect her for a weekend visit. He asks her for a quiet chat, and they go to one of the school benches. He blames her for the break-up of his marriage, etc, and leaves her in tears...

...Willow finds herself on stage to perform a duet, but can't sing...

...Xander follows a trail of chocolate bars to discover a knife wielding clown laughing at him...

...And Giles discovers that he can't read.

The 'nightmares' seem to lead back to the boy, who is a young baseball player who is in a coma after being attacked following a lost game. Buffy manages to find 'him' wandering the school and tries to help him escape his attacker. In the chase they end up in the graveyard, during the day, but it's night there. The Master sneeks out behind Buffy........

Giles and the others regroup, gradually figuring out what's happening and go in search of Buffy. They go into the graveyard and find a new grave, with Buffy's name on the headstone. Initially saddened by his failure as Buffy's watcher, Giles, and the others, are shocked when Buffy rises out of the grave, as a vampire. Gathering themselves, and putting aside the changes to Buffy they head to the hospital to try to wake the boy, and end the nightmares. During the battle with the 'attacker' they realise it was the baseball teams coach that had beaten up the boy, blaming him for the loss of the game. The boy wakes from his coma, and the nightmares end.
