(episode written by Rob Des Hotel & Dean Batali, directed by David Semel)

Buffy gets a date with new classmate, Owen. Unfortunately a prophecy is uncovered about the rising of the Annointed One, a vampire who will emerge from the deaths of five innocents and lead the Slayer into Hell. Determined to 'have a life' Buffy goes on her date to the Bronze with Owen. Giles and the others investigate the prophecy and discover some possibles for the Annointed One at the funeral home.

While Giles fights to stop the Annointed One rising, the others go and fetch Buffy. Owen follows his date to the funeral home, unaware what he is getting himself into. The gang track down Giles, who had taken to hiding in one of the 'draws'. They battle the vampires, with Owen getting stuck right in the middle, and recieving a blow to the head. The vampire they believe is the Annointed One is thrust in to the furnace. The gang think they have got the vampire, that the Annointed One is slain. But have they........

When Owen asks Buffy on another date, to a bar where they can start a fight, she declines.
