B3 School Hard
(teleplay by David
Greenwalt, story by Joss Whendon & David
Greenwalt, directed by John Kretchmer)
Buffy has been forced into
helping with the preperations for Parent-Teacher
Night, along side fellow 'delinquent' Sheila.
Whoever fails gets expelled....
It's a typical Sunnydale
evening.... until... a blacked out car drives
through the 'Welcome to Sunnydale' sign and comes
to a stop. A bleach-blond Londoner gets out of
the car and surveys around him. He takes a puff
of his cigarette then turns to his frail
companion, declaring their arrival.
Whilst on a night out with
her friends at the Bronze, Buffy's evening is
disrupted when an English stranger comes in
saying that a girl is being attacked, that
someone is trying to bite her neck. Buffy takes
the bait and goes to the rescue. She battles the
vampire, but during the fight he asks the English
man, Spike, for help. He does not oblige and
Buffy slays the vampire. Spike makes some
comments then disappears into the night.
At first they are unaware
exactly who this new vampire is, until Angel
sneeks into the library and informs them it's a
vampire who used to be known as 'William the
Bloody'. Angel vanishes as mysteriously as he'd
arrived. Giles 'hits the books' and researches
into their new foe, with alarming discoveries.
His passion for torturing people to death with a
railroad spike aside, Spike has encountered, and
killed, two Slayers in his time..... and a
special night in the vampire calender is
looming.....
The Parents-Teachers
evening arrives, and the final touches are being
made. Whilst Buffy makes the finishing touches to
the snacks, the rest of the Scooby Gang chisel
wooden stakes ready for the expected show down
with Spike the following evening. Buffy realises
there is no punch so goes off to make some
lemonade. When the result is tasted...... she
forgot to put the sugar in........! Mrs Summers
arrives and Buffy and Willow set about trying to
keep her away from Mr Snyder, knowing he'll have
nothing good to say about her. Willow gives her a
detailed tour of the school, but the inevitable
happens. When Mrs Summers returns from her talk
with Snyder, she is not happy, and orders Buffy
home at once..... but before they can leave a
group of vampires, led by Spike, crash through
the window and start to attack everyone. They
scatter, a group finds refuge in one of the
classrooms, including Buffy, her mother and
Snyder. Buffy tells them to stay put, and
definately not go out the window. She puts a
chair onto a table and climbs into the roof
space....
Willow and Cordelia find
refuge in a cupboard. Cordelia is annoyingly
paranoid, and scared, and trys Willows patience
to the limit.....
Giles, Miss Calender and
Xander baracade themselves into the library.
Xander is sent out via the stacks to go and fetch
Angel, they need all the help they can get...
Giles gathers up some weapons, and prepares to
venture out of the library...
The vampires are slowly
breaking through the door to the refuge where Mrs
Summers, Snyder and some others are hiding. As
they start to get more worried one of the
teachers decides to try and get out of the
window. When he is half way out he starts to
scream and is pulled through....the others decide
maybe to stay put would be the best idea.... with
Buffy now armed she heads back to the corridor
outside where the group are hiding and manages to
take out some of the vampires. She bumps into
Sheila, and enlists her help... when Buffy's back
is turned Sheila goes to attack her, but Buffy is
warned and slays her. She manages to get to her
mother and the others and leads them to the
library, where Giles has instructions to get them
all out safely... when his back is turned Mrs
Summers goes back to find Buffy......
Xander and Angel manage to
get inside the school, and finally locate Spike.
Xander is shocked to discover they know each
other, and seem almost like buddies. Spike refers
to Angel as his Sire. During the encounter Angel
has Xander by the neck and offers Spike a
'drink', as they both go down to feed (much to
Xander's horror) Spike suddenly lashes out at
Angel. Angel and Xander back off and run for
it...
Spike and Buffy finally
meet, and the fight begins. At first it is quite
even, but eventually Spike gets the upper hand,
and goes in for the kill.... only to be hit over
the head with an axe... by Buffy's mother.
Realising the opportunity to take out Buffy had
probably passed on this occasion, Spike makes a
dash for it out of the window he came in by. Mrs
Summers decides not to be too harsh on Buffy, as
she had been a hero that night...
Cordelia and Willow are
still in the broom cupboard......
The Scooby Gang find out
that Angel knew Spike, had actually Sired him,
and hung with him for some time. His neglecting
to tell them does not go down very well, but he
finally fills them in on some additional info
about their new nemisis.
The Annointed One is
unhappy that Spike's impatience ruined the Night
of St Vigilous. Spike refers to him as 'The
Annoying One' when talking to Drusilla, and
decides it's time for fun in Sunnydale, so grabs
the Annointed One, puts him in a cage, hoists it
up, and exposes him to the daylight, turning the
Annointed One to dust.
