B6 Halloween
(episode written by Carl
Ellsworth, directed by Bruce Seth Green)
Traditionally Halloween is
a time when vampires and demons actually stay in,
and all should be quiet with the world, or so it
is believed.
Buffy, Willow and Xander
are collared by Principle Snyder to help
supervise groups of younger kids on Halloween
night as they go trick or treating. Plus they
have to dress up in costume... uuhhgg. Buffy also
gets curious about Angels past and 'steals' some
of Giles books to learn more. As she and Willow
research, they find a picture of a noblewoman...
The gang get their
costumes from a new costume shop called 'Ethans'.
Xander decides on a soldier guise, Willow opts
for hiding under a sheet with two holes cut out
of it, and Buffy spots a beautiful dress, an old
style 'noblewoman' gown. The shop owner, an
English man, persuades her to take the costume,
saying it was made for her.. Cordelia gets her
costume from another shop, she dresses as a
'leopard'.
Buffy persuades Willow to
try a sexy costume instead of the ghost one, but
Willow throws on the sheet at the last minute. In
the shop Ethan is in the back chanting and
reciting.... As the trick or treating is almost
over things start to go 'wiggy', with everyone
becoming their costumes... Xander becomes a
soldier, Willow becomes a ghost and has to 'shed'
the sheet, and Buffy becomes a helpless
noblewoman... and all the kids become demons and
monsters etc... The scooby gang end up baracaded
into Buffy's house, with only Willow knowing
who's who. Then they hear screams for help,
Xander goes to the rescue and brings a shaken,
and costume ripped Cordelia into the house, but
Cordelia is unaffected, she's not become her
costume. Willow goes to fetch Giles to figure out
what's happening, she exits by walking through
the wall. Amid the chaos Angel manages to get to
the house and is confused when they don't
recognise him, Cordelia sort of explains. They go
to man their stations, to protect the house, but
the back door is open, Angel hadn't left it
open... he collars the intruder and they fight,
Angel eventually revealing his vampire face...
Buffy screams and runs out of the house. The
others go after her, but they're not the only
ones looking for her, Spike is on the prowl..
Back in the library Giles
is checking through some of the index cards, and
throws them up in the air in shock as Willow
bounds towards him having just come in... through
the wall? She explains and they go to work on the
research, which is a bit tricky for Willow as she
can't pick anything up...
The others find Buffy, but
only just in time, and they end up hiding in a
warehouse, Spike close on their heals...
... as the research
progresses Willow mentions Cordelias cat outfit,
and Giles comments about her becoming a cat...
but she hadn't, and she'd got her costume from a
different shop... the penny starts to drop. Giles
and Willow head over to Ethans, when they arrive
they go to the back room, Giles recognises the
owner, Ethan Rayne, and orders Willow to leave.
Giles moves in on his prey and demands to know
how to cancel the curse Ethan has cast. Ethan
refuses to tell 'Ripper', so Giles hits him,
again and again...
Spike has the scooby gang
in the warehouse, he closes in on a terrified and
tearful Buffy, the others rendered unable to
help. He pushes her down and starts to go down to
bite her neck...
... a bloody Ethan finally
relents and tells Giles how to cancel the curse,
by breaking a statue, Giles picks it up and
crashes it to the floor..
... just as Spike is
inches from Buffy's neck her wig comes off in his
hand. He backs off a little, briefly confused.
Before he can gather himself Buffy is in slaying
action and knocks him away, she gets in a few
more blows and he runs off. The demons are kids
again, and all is calm in Sunnydale once more...
... as Giles turns round,
Ethan has vanished ...
