At the tender age of 15,
High School student Buffy Summers discovered her
fateful 'destiny' as the Vampire Slayer. She must
battle untold evil, not just vampires, and save
the world from destruction on a regular basis. As
would be expected this has a profound effect on
her personality, school work, and reputation, now
being labeled as a 'trouble maker'. She is
eventually expelled from Hemery High School in
LA, and moves to the seemingly quiet town of
Sunnydale, California with her mother.
Season One
Buffy
arrives at Sunnydale High School, hoping to be
able to make a new start, and put her slayer
destiny behind. She is horrified to discover that
the High School's librarian is her new Watcher,
Mr Rupert Giles. Buffy makes some new friends,
Willow and Xander, and also meets the High
Schools 'in girl' Cordelia Chase, aswell as
meeting a mysterious stranger called Angel, who
turns out to be Vampire. She reluctantly takes on
her role as the Slayer, and with the help of her
new friends and Watcher is able to avert a major
apocolyptic prophecy, facing her own mortality in
the process.
Season Two
After
spending the summer with her father in LA, Buffy
returns to Sunnydale. Her behaviour at first is
off, she is unusually bitchy, but the kidnap of
her friends for a Vampire ritual brings her back
to the reality of the Hellmouth and life as the
Slayer. Some new villains arrive in Sunnydale, in
the shape of Spike and Drusilla, vampires who
turn out to have a close connection with Angel.
And a second Slayer, Kendra, also arrives.
Buffy's relationship with Angel develops, with
disasterous consequences on her 17th birthday.
Angel swops sides and plans to end the world by
having it sucked into Hell. Buffy's mother
eventually discovers her daughters destiny, but
can't take it all in, and they fall out. With
time running out Buffy has to sacrifice Angel in
order to save the world.
Season Three
Buffy
has left Sunnydale after the heartache of her
battle with Angel, and fall out with her mother.
But Hell is never far from the Slayer, and her
destiny catches up with her, prompting her to
return home. The welcome is not the warmest, but
things gradually settle down back to normal. As
Buffy becomes more distant from her natural
father her relationship with Giles grows
stronger. A new second Slayer, Faith, arrives in
Sunnydale and tries to lead Buffy astray.
Although failing on that she does cause plenty of
problems for Buffy and the gang. Angel returns
from Hell, his soul intact, and is gradually
accepted back into the group, and Buffy recindles
her relationship with him. Because of Buffy and
Giles' closeness he is fired as her Watcher, and
a replacement eventually arrives, Wesley
Wyndham-Price. Buffy is not happy with the change
and continues to report to Giles. With Faith
having gone off the rails, and the Mayor planning
something big for the Class of 99, it's up to
Buffy and the gang to save the Sunnydale High
students from being the Ascension breakfast of
the Mayor. Buffy has her heart broken by Angel,
who decides it's not a good idea for them to be
together, and leaves after their explosive
Graduation Day.
Season Four
Now a
student at UC Sunnydale, along with Willow, Buffy
discovers that College isn't all that different
from High School. She is slowly getting over
Angel leaving, and starts to forge some new
relationships. The first turns out to be a one
night stand, which Buffy isn't happy about. The
second new beau, Riley Finn, is a little bit more
traditional and their romance slowly blossoms.
The big bad for this year turns out to be a
military experiment gone wrong, to which Riley is
connected, and it's left up to Buffy and the gang
to pick up the pieces and rescue the military
from their own creation. As Buffy struggles to
discover her independence and grow, she loses
touch with her friends, which is capitalised by
the new enemy and used against them. Faith also
puts in an appearance, having woken from her
coma, spelling trouble yet again for Buffy. The
gang eventually pull back together, defeat the
enemy in awesome style, and re-bond ready for the
new year ahead.
