Xander is not particularly bright, or much of a 'ladies guy'. His lifelong friend is shy but very brainy Willow, and he counts on her help for him to make the grade at school.

He is regarded as one of the 'loser crowd' by the High Schools 'in crowd', and is often 'ignored' by them.

Season One

When the new girl 'Buffy' arrives Xander is literally 'knocked off his skateboard' by the sight of her, and is in love instantly. He is delighted when Buffy chooses him and Willow as her new friends, but will he ever get to date the girl of his dreams?

Xander falls for one of the teachers, the substitute science teacher, Miss French. But she is not what she seems and the gang have to rescue him and another boy from a very unpleasent fate. More problems arise when he is possessed by the spirit of a Hyena, along with a gang of bullies. Xanders persona changes, and he turns on Buffy and Willow. The possession is eventually undone and Xander fains amnesia, claiming he can't remember what happened, to avoid the embarrasment of the things he'd said and done.

Xander proves his loyalty to Buffy when her life is in danger from an encounter with the Master. He tracks down Angel and insists he help him find her. When they do she is dead, drowned minutes, if not seconds, before their arrival. Xander does CPR on Buffy and brings her back, and helps her to defeat the Master with the rest of the gang.

Season Two

When Buffy returns from her summer break she acts a bit off. At one point teasing Xander with a sexy dance at the Bronze, and then just walking off. She eventually snaps out of it and all is forgiven. Xanders hate relationship with Cordelia starts to build momentum, with the two exchanging insults on a regular basis. Despite this, when Cordelia's life is put in danger from a 'Frankenstien' style experiment, his courage and loyalty to doing what's right comes through, and Cordelia even tries to thank him.

Xander falls foul of another temptress who turns out to be not what she appears. An Inca Princess, who was mummified, who has to drain the life of others in order to live. Xander eventually saves the day, helping to stop his new love from killing anyone else. He also suffers humiliation at a frat party that he gatecrashes in order to keep an eye on Buffy, and becomes a soldier on Halloween when an old friend of Giles' casts some chaos on Sunnydale.

The relationship with Cordelia takes on a new twist when they are trapped in Buffy's basement, with a nasty 'bug man' assassin waiting for them upstairs. They start to argue, get closer and closer, and then kiss. They than decide it's time to run for it. They continue to smooch in secret.

Xanders stint as a soldier at Halloween comes in handy, as he remembers everything, including how to get into the local army base to steal a hand held rocket launcher so that they can kill a demon called the Judge, who it's written that 'no weapon forged can kill him'. But Xander realised that weapons technology had advanced a bit since that was written.

Cordelia eventually dumps Xander, because her 'Cordettes' are disowning her. Upset by the rejection, Xander persuades Amy to cast a love spell on Cordelia so that he can get his revenge. It goes wrong, and every female in Sunnydale, *except Cordelia*, start to fall hopelessly in love with him. The obessessions get violent, and it's up to Giles to save the day. The result is that Cordelia ditches her 'Cordettes', gets back with Xander, and becomes a proper member of the Scooby Gang.

Xander does his bit for the good fight again when he joins the swim team, because they are all getting killed one by one. Cordelia is impressed, and Xander embarassed, when they spot him at one of the practices. The gang eventually figure it out, but not before Xander has been 'infected'. He has to undergo some medical treatment, but alls well that ends well.

Season Three

In Buffy's absence, the gang try a bit of Slaying. Xander takes on the guise of 'Night Hawk', but the gangs success rate is a little low. Buffy returns and things slowly get back to normal. Xander is quite taken with the new Slayer, Faith, much to Cordelia's, and Willow's, annoyance. The relationship with Willow starts to take a romantic turn. When Spike returns to Sunnydale and kidnaps Xander and Willow, they eventually kiss, believing that they are going to die, just as Cordelia and Oz walk in to rescue them. As Cordelia leaves the building the stairs collapse and she falls through. She dumps Xander, and returns to her spitefull remarks, and bitchy attitude.

Xander finally 'gets his oats' after helping Faith out. Willow is gutted when she finds out. Xander does manage to get a date to the Prom, in the form of former wish demoness Anyanka. Although Xander does get good enough grades to graduate, he fails his SAT's.

Xander's turn as a soldier during Ethan Rayne's Halloween high jinx the previous year come in handy, and it's up to Xander to organise the battle against the Mayor on Graduation Day. It all goes reasonably well, and the gang graduate in explosive style.

Season Four

Xander returns from his travels, to be offered only the basement at his parents place, and he has to pay rent. He takes on various jobs here and there, whilst the girls are doing the college thing. His relationship with Anya developes further and they start dating.

Xander continues to help Buffy as needed, and ends up with a very unlikely lodger in the form of Spike. Eventually Spike gets a place of his own, much to Xanders delight.

Xander slowly matures throughout the year, with a steady relationship with Anya, having to earn his keep, and generally being a 'man of the world'.

Season Five
